JAI's latest line scan camera: Imaging capability that simultaneously captures visible and shortwave
JAI announces a new prism-based industrial line scan camera, the SW-4010Q-MCL. This model uses 4-sensor line scan technology, which can acquire red, green, and blue channel image data through three independent CMOS sensors, while image data is acquired from the shortwave infrared band by a fourth InGaAs sensor.

With the addition of the SW-4010Q-MCL, JAI's existing Sweep+ series of 3-CMOS R-G-B and 4-CMOS R-G-B-NIR line scan camera products have extended multispectral imaging to the shortwave infrared band.

Advantages of the 4-sensor camera "Sweep+":
To ensure the quality of the output images, machine vision systems often require visible and shortwave infrared imaging functions. The SW-4010Q-MCL camera can output both visible and shortwave infrared images in a single inspection.

Equipped with both CMOS and InGaAs image sensors, this industrial camera uses three CMOS sensors to acquire visible light data (400-700 nm) for advanced color inspection imaging, while a fourth InGaAs sensor is used to acquire data from the 800-1700 nm spectrum.

Each of the three CMOS line scan sensors has a 4096-pixel HD resolution, a pixel size of 7.5 microns x 7.5 microns, a sensor width of 30.72 mm, and a maximum scan rate of 20.6 kHz at full resolution. In comparison, the fourth InGaAs line scan sensor offers 1024 pixel resolution, 25 micron square pixels, a sensor width of 25.6 mm, and a maximum scan rate of 39 kHz at full resolution.

The Xscale function can be used to match the field of view (FOV) and scan rate between the two sensor types:
the camera uses Jai's unique pixel zoom function, Xscale, which makes it easy to reconfigure the camera. Set up the four sensors to use the same field of view (25.6 mm line width) and the same line rate (39 kHz) to automatically adjust the visible channel to 2048 pixels (12.5 micron pixels) or 1024 pixels (25 micron pixels).

More useful features to make your machine vision system even better:
The SW-4010Q-MCL camera has a built-in color conversion function, can output images in HSI or CIE XYZ color format if required, and also offers conversion from standard RGB to sRGB or Adobe RGB color gamut, and even supports user-defined RGB conversion parameters.

Other features include independent gain and shutter control for each channel, dual-stream data output (RGB and SWIR use different data streams), trigger and encoder control, and noise reduction filters.

Dedicated Lenses for Visible and SWIR:
JAI also offers a purpose-built lens (sold separately) optimized for focusing visible and SWIR light. The camera is equipped with dual Mini Camera Link mounts and M52 lens mounts.
