Vision Dialogue with Senior Executive

What will be the growth of machine vision applications in the Chinese market and the global end product sector in the next few years? Under the background of Made in China 2025, how will the enterprise's development strategy be adjusted? What technology convergence will the company focus on in the future?

China (Shanghai) Machine Vision Expo 2021 launched the "Vision Dialogue Executives", invited exhibitors executives to have a dialogue. What do executives think of the above questions? Let's listen to the following steps.

Q: Under the background of Made in China 2025, equipment manufacturing is the core and pillar of the manufacturing industry. What is your company's development plan and strategy in 2021? How to better apply the company's products to the equipment manufacturing industry?

Answer: Due to the impact of the epidemic, the machine vision market in 2020 is slowing down in the development of application in some industries. However, in the context of Made in China 2025, the demand for visual solutions for equipment manufacturing continues to grow in the entire industry, and it is developing towards a more intelligent and automated trend.

Traditional visual applications are generally based on PC. The technical level has really improved a lot in the past decades, but there are also defects such as large size and lack of intelligence. With the development of embedded vision and artificial intelligence technology, Some manufacturing inspection applications, such as defect detection, dimension measurement, manipulator guidance, and target positioning, which have been in strong demand, can be realized in a more compact and intelligent way.

In 2021, Allied Vision will focus on its proprietary Alvium innovative technology. In addition to continuing to dig deep into embedded vision, we are adding more attractive interface options (such as 5 Gige) to traditional machine vision and pushing new sensor combinations. The new products and technologies have many advantages, such as low energy consumption, miniaturization, high bandwidth, high cost performance and so on. We believe that they can provide a series of excellent product choices for the intelligent equipment manufacturing industry and give more impetus to the realization of the Made in China 2025 goal.

Q: In the next two to three years, which end product areas do you think will see growth or new market demand for machine vision applications in China and globally? How will your company deal with it?

A: We see medical/pharmaceutical applications as very important, driven by the various needs associated with COVID-related outbreaks. The logistics/sorting market is also experiencing explosive growth and this trend is expected to continue in the next 2-3 years.

Allied Vision sees a great opportunity in the development of hyperspectral imaging as a non-destructive method of material identification, and we are one of the pioneers in short-wave infrared technology. As customers learn more about the benefits of this technology, its applications are expanding: semiconductors, organic materials, food sorting, agriculture, monitoring, and more. Allied Vision is continuously introducing new shortwave infrared products at higher resolution and speeds.

In addition, 3D Vision/Robotics and its derivative applications are a major trend, primarily driven by our sister company (LMI) within the TKH Vision group -- we expect 2D and 3D solutions to work in synergy.

Q: Cross-boundary cooperation and technology integration is the current trend and opportunity of the entire machine vision industry. With the current innovative technologies, such as edge computing, artificial intelligence, deep learning, embedded vision, 5G+, etc., which innovative technologies will your company focus on in the future?

A: We see embedded vision as an alternative to a range of PC-based machine vision solutions to support a wide range of new applications that require small size, low power consumption and low cost. As mentioned earlier, the Alvium product line is ideal for embedded applications, including all the necessary accessories and evaluation and development kits to ensure seamless camera integration.

Similarly, we have also observed that the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G era create very good infrastructure conditions for the wireless deployment of visual processing terminals, but at the same time, it also puts forward higher requirements for the miniaturization, intelligence and low power consumption of visual imaging modules. Alvium products are small in size, low in power consumption, and use MIPI interface to connect intelligent processing chip/intelligent computing module at high speed, which is very suitable for the development and deployment of new visual products in the 5G era. In addition, besides the high performance of 5G to create more machine vision application scenarios, the 5G industry itself also needs equipment manufacturers in the machine vision industry to produce more sophisticated production and assembly equipment. For example, the high bandwidth requirements of 5G communications require more advanced optical transmission modules. As a typical application of shortwave infrared cameras, Allied Vision Goldeye shortwave infrared cameras have been widely used in production equipment processes for fiber optic communications.

Q: Visionchina2021 (Shanghai) Exhibition, what latest technologies and products will your company bring to the exhibition? What are the highlights of the main product?

A: We will participate in this exhibition together with the visual companies of TKH Vision Group. Allied Vision will bring a full range of product demonstrations. Alvium series and Goldeye short-wave infrared series are our main products.

The Alvium family of cameras has been the focus of Allied Vision's focus in recent years. The series combines the benefits of embedded sensor modules with the high performance of industrial image processing cameras, with many benefits such as extensive image correction and optimization capabilities, a large selection of the latest sensors, intelligent power management, cost-effective and compact single board design. Alvium cameras can be used in highly integrated industrial inspection equipment with high volume and energy requirements, as well as intelligent embedded vision devices of the future. Allied Vision, for example, has partnered with several medical device companies to integrate Alvium cameras into different medical devices, enabling high integration and high quality imaging. Allied Vision will also unveil the Alvium 5Gige interface version for the first time. The product fills the gap in the Alvium product line in terms of gigabit network interface, features high cost performance, high bandwidth and high frame rate, etc., and is very suitable for future vision inspection applications in intelligent factories with complex requirements.

Another of our flagship products is the Goldeye series of short-wave infrared cameras. With the maturity of short-wave infrared vision technology, its application scope is expanding day by day, typical applications include laser, semiconductor, organic materials, food sorting, agriculture, monitoring and so on. Allied Vision has more than 12 years of experience in short-wave infrared development. With its comprehensiveness and professionalism, Goldeye series products perform well in uniformity, linearity, dynamic range and other aspects, with excellent picture quality, which is favored by domestic customers.

Other sister companies of TKH Vision Group will also be showcasing their flagship products. These include high-speed wire-scan cameras from Chromasens, as well as high-speed high-resolution cameras from SVS and Mikrotron.
